PLEASE NOTE:
No-one at GDR gets paid! We are all volunteers and do this in our own time. Alot of the costs can fall on us as individuals. We have our own lives with family and work, so please be mindful of our limits and generosity in devoting our time, effort and money to such a worthwhile cause!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR DOG OWNERS!!!
In accordance with our Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Greater Geraldton Shire, no dogs rescued by us can be returned to previous owners.
You can only claim a dog while it is in the Shire's care at the pound. After it has been impounded for it's required time (between 3-7 days depending on I.D. and registration), it then legally becomes the property of The Shire and they can 'dispose' of the dog as they see fit.
Please also note that we are not permitted to rescue every impounded dog.
However, if we are permitted to rescue and rehome a dog and it is deemed suitable after health and temperament assessments we will do what we can to save it from Euthanasia - But only if we are in position to be able to do so. We have limited resources and cannot always save every dog we would like to.
Please understand - Once GDR have rescued a dog we are not permitted to return it to it's previous owner. This is not something we have any control over.
